Prerequisite: Prerequisites: CHST 002 and CHST 063. This course presents an overview of knowledge, skills, and theories of learning and development related to providing appropriate curriculum and environments for young children from birth to age eight. Students have the opportunity to examine a teacher's role in supporting development and engagement for all young children. This course covers strategies for developmentally-appropriate practice based on observation and assessments across an integrated curriculum, including indoor and outdoor settings; academic content areas; play and visual performing arts; and development of social-emotional, communication, and cognitive skills.(CHST 002, CHST 063)
